CHANTRY CENTRE FLIES THE FLAG

In a month that included Mother’s Day, Easter, the Royal Wedding and three Bank Holidays, April was going to be a mega month for families with children at home for the duration.

In response, The Chantry Centre organised their Big British Break programme of free family fun featuring entertainment, music, crafts, celebrity appearances and patriotic flag waving street parties.

Every day during April, children were able to take part in 'make 'n' take' craft workshops from Mother's Day Card Making, Easter Basket decoration, Windmill Making organised by the Centre's Bee Team.

Local attractions were also invited to get involved in the activities and children took part in Paper Glider and Blow Jet making with the Museum of Army Flying; Get Active demonstrations and Displays of Zumba, Yoga, Body Attack and Combat by Andover Leisure; appearances by Owlfa the mascot of the Hawk Conservancy Trust and decorated ceramics with Cherished China.

On Easter Monday, John Bull and CBeebie's 'I Can Cook' presenter, Katy Ashworth, entertained the children with patriotic shows featuring games, music and dance; cake icing and Prince and Princess competitions and crown and royal fridge magnet making craft workshops.

The Big British Break activity ended on Bank Holiday Monday, 2 May with a special appearance by popular TV cartoon character - Dora the Explorer.
