WE'RE ON THE BALL! World Cup fever started early at the Chantry Centre when dads, lads and daughters were able to test soccer skills and their footie know-how in a giant Spot the Ball competition. The event kicked off on Saturday, 5 June and ran till Fathers Day. Matching light hearted fun with a more serious message, the Chantry Centre linked with the national Everyman Charity to help raise awareness of testicular cancer and collect money on behalf of the charity. The 'kick off' took place in the Chantry Court covered space and featured an inflatable football goal mouth where people had the speed and accuracy of their penalty kick measured. Checking out potential new recruits for the England team, was an impromptu visit by a Fabio Copello lookalike. There was also a giant 'Spot the Ball’ competition where a 12' x 6’ poster of an action shot from the classic England/Germany match was displayed and shoppers invited to guess the position of the ball for a minimum contribution of £1 to the Everyman Charity. |
